In partnership with the Tmatboey community (Cambodia), the Sam Veasna Center (Johnny Orn), the St. Philip School (Kentucky), and Ohio University (Ohio), we constructed Reading Cottages, distributed school supplies, bought books, and delivered a solar package to a community school (solar panels, laptops for teachers, printer, supplies).
At the International Language School (Siem Reap, Cambodia), we worked in the classroom with teachers and students; took students on a field trip to the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity; created a Khmer Writing Club; and met informally with teachers.
Our work in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) included offering compassionate care to the children on the terminal ward at an orphanage (most of the children had hydrocephalus). Other activities at the orphanage included: purchasing antibiotics for some of the children; bringing the singer-songwriters Hà Nguyễn (Viet Nam) and Brett Newski (U.S.) to the orphanage to perform their music; starting a photography program for the children; and hosting a Halloween Party.
